You’re unhappy with your weight. You feel tired all the time. Every time you start a new diet, you know you’re going to fail. You feel like your life is an endless cycle of losing and gaining weight or thinking about it but never really going anywhere with it. You don’t have the time. It’s too hard. You don’t know where to start.
If you agree with any of those statements, you are in the right place.
I’ve been where you are, and I am here to tell you that you can be happy with your body and have energy. You do have the time, and it doesn’t have to be hard. Yes, I know this sounds like crazy talk!
I created Renew You to help you find solutions to all those problems that work in your real life so you can start to live your best life.
What does it mean to “Renew You”?
Let’s start with what it means to “renew” something. I’m sure it means something different to each of us depending on the day. Most often, it probably applies to your driver’s license or a magazine subscription (those still exist, right?). Shakespeare used “renew” in his third sonnet in reference to having children (renewing or extending your blood line). Maybe you think of the earth being renewed each spring as new leaves grow on trees and flowers bloom.
While the mental pictures that each of these examples presents are very different, they all have something in common. They are all about beginning again. That is what it means to renew you. We are going to begin a journey to health and wellness again. And the beautiful thing about this journey is you can renew you at any time and as often as you need to. There is no failure here!
But aren’t I supposed to pick a diet and workout plan and stick to it no matter what?
If that works in your life, then sure! I know that doesn’t work in mine!
Real life is constantly getting in the way of good intentions. It doesn’t matter how carefully you schedule or how determined you are to stick to that meal plan. One day, traffic is going to be terrible, and you aren’t going to have the energy to cook dinner. Or your best friend will call after a breakup and need you to meet up for a (few) drink(s). Or the skies will open up with the worst storm you’ve seen in months on the day you had planned to start running again.
Something is always going to get in the way of following that perfectly laid out plan. And once you miss one day, it’s so much harder to stick to it the next day, and the day after, and so on and so on.
So how does this work?
That’s up to you! I’m not going to tell you exactly what to eat when or which exercises to do tomorrow. I don’t know what your tomorrow looks like; so who am I to tell you what you should do?! Only you know what will work for you (even if you don’t realize it yet).
What I’m here to do is provide some guidance to help you get through whatever challenges you’re facing. I will help you examine the mental or emotional roadblocks that may be stopping you from moving forward. We’ll talk about what foods are good for you and why, so you can find the foods that fit best into your life and that you enjoy eating. And we’ll find new ways to exercise that will get you excited about working up a sweat (I know it sounds crazy…just trust me).
Most importantly, we’ll have fun discovering your best life! Renew You is about building your best life in a way that actually works for you. This is your journey, I’m just along for the ride!
It’s not going to be easy. There will be bumps, and probably a few bruises, along the way. That’s normal and human (surprise! you’re not an alien!). You can choose to let those barriers discourage you or you can pick yourself up and begin again. That’s what we’re here to do, so pick yourself up and let’s Renew You.
